Audio and video. A look at the droneless gaming headset SteelSeries Siberia P800 Packaging and accessories

Look at the SteelSeries Siberia 800 headset | Functionality and control

The headset is insured on a drone-free market and is not uncommon. However, SteelSeries engineers also installed a multi-channel transmission in it, which, like a Wi-Fi adapter, allows it to select the highest available frequencies and automatically switch to them when needed. Unfortunately, we were not able to determine how effective this solution is for ensuring the minimal fixes that are advertised. We can also confirm that the strength of the Siberia 800 was the average in the minds of a great laboratory with a lot of devices that work in the same frequency range.

Adjustment of the tension is achieved using a rotary wheel. Behind the microphone mute button and the power button, there are no other controls on the headset body.

It operates on lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and is supplied with two batteries with a capacity of 1000 mAg each. Assuming that in practice there will be an available charge of approximately 800 mAg, we extract enough energy for 6-10 years of continuous operation depending on the level of intensity and frequency of the control elements. To charge the batteries, you need to install a battery on the base station.

SteelSeries needs to be modest, calling the foreign black block a simple transfer. In addition, it is equipped with a great high-contrast OLED display, which looks wonderful in the future. It’s difficult to learn how to navigate the menu. A single hardware knob makes navigation particularly easy: to select the desired item, you turn the knob, and press to confirm. What is enough for access to any adjustments, there are a lot of them here.

As for different devices, connecting them requires a number of connectors. There are two 3.5 mm jacks on the rear panel: line-in and microphone-out. In addition, your dedicated optical digital input and output, through which the headset can either connect to the digital speaker, or pass it through itself and transmit it to the surrounding speaker system.

It’s also great that the cups can rotate 90 degrees vertically, which allows a headset with a height of about 7 cm to take up less space when transporting.

It is also equipped with a Dolby 7.1 virtual sound system, but it is important not to be biased.

Recharging the batteries takes less than 70 hours. In addition, most users will have a spare battery in the middle of the base station, which not only charges once the maximum capacity is reached, but keeps it in the charged state. When the headset starts beeping to indicate that the charge is low, you just need to change the batteries one by one.

Look at the SteelSeries Siberia 800 headset | Microphone

To remove the microphone, it must be removed from the cup, and if it is not needed, it can be taken back. When you press the mute button on the microphone, a small red LED starts to shine. I am really glad that Siberia 800 does not have any other light signaling.

The lower cut at 100 Hz works fine, and the high cut at 10,000 Hz still looks quite reasonable. However, these specifications provided on the SteelSeries website do not necessarily indicate performance. We measured the effective frequency range from 125 to 8000 Hz, which is still entirely sufficient for the microphone of a gaming headset. The lowest human voices are transmitted poorly, and the whistles never go beyond the 7 kHz cordon.

Look at the SteelSeries Siberia 800 headset | Vibration and sweetness to sound

You can read about the headset testing methodology at statti How We Test Gaming Headsets. Details about the vibrating technique can be found on page 6.

For our tests, we choose as much as possible the most neutral adjustments, avoiding any interference with the expression of excessive sound that interferes with the creation of sound. Testing is carried out with a pure stereo signal, and testing is performed on a mono signal (horn noise). The headset's graphics show noticeably low bass levels, daily sharp hums and other unpleasant surprises. One noticeable feature is that the level shift at a frequency around 90 Hz is approximately 8 dB higher than the normalized value at 1 kHz. Fortunately, everyone will be deprived within the permissible limit of +/- 3 dB.

The increase in the level of low frequencies, especially in the upper part of the low-frequency range, does not have a special sensation: all the beats and vibrations that accompany fight scenes fall at significantly lower frequencies. And this is absolutely enough so that drum lovers can enjoy the presence of a hard bass drum. Zagalom, one part of the range that can be called hypertrophic. Reshta looks much more beautiful, and the parameters of the best bass are completely adequate.

Working with small 40 mm speakers for a long time is not a good idea.

The mid-frequency range is completely different. The lower part of the mid-frequency range is slightly bolstered, and more instruments and voices sound more natural, less loud. You may not like it, or you may not hate it. In our opinion, the sound picture is too massive, although the acoustics were made even worse. The sound is not overly analytical, but rather detailed.

Our speakers exhibited consistent frequency response from the upper mids to the lower treble, resulting in a solid soundstage. This is important for spatial recognition of sound in games. The timbre of instruments, voices and unnecessary sounds is also deprived of a neutral tone.

A small peak at 6 kHz is more likely to enhance sounds, so that small instruments hiss and sound more sensitively. The sound sounds cold, without any metal clinks. It is more suitable for playing, but not for listening to a symphony orchestra.

Oz, what are we supposed to do? Of course, for this price you can get decent Hi-Fi headphones with a lot of boost, but in this case you will be tied up with a cable and will be left without a microphone. A shotgun headset that sounds like a Siberia 800 and with a similar amp costs about $100 to make.

Well, the only thing is that there really is a premium “markup” of $150 for the base station and the dartless connection. We know it’s pleasant, especially since the original price of $300 on the SteelSeries website itself has dropped to $240.

Look at the SteelSeries Siberia 800 headset | Visnovki

With a price of close to $250 in online stores, it certainly cannot be called the best deal. But this price is entirely justified if you want to spend a significant sum on drone-free solutions with functions that are standard on mainstream models.

The sound of Siberia 800 has a slight increase in bass, but otherwise it is designed for comfortable listening. The stability of the operating parameters is good for a droneless device, and the batteries last a long time. If the battery is discharged, you can replace it with a reserve one, which will be included in the delivery kit.

A base station with transmission, various sound controls and immaculate ports is the reason for the high level of communication. At the same time, this telephone booster occupies the central place in the entire set. It is attractive in appearance, functional, Dolby certified and easy to operate.

And, you will find, the headset itself with a high folding yoke and a sensitive microphone is far from superior both in price and in functionality and connection capabilities. Volodars of great goals have little problems, since the pressure on the ear becomes uncomfortable. You might as well deserve the Siberia 800, or you'll make jokes easier. You can relax more comfortably on the sofa and listen to music without wires (of course, since money is not a problem).

HYDNOSIS:

  • High cooking yield
  • External drone-free connection to a multi-channel connection

  • The selected materials are slightly disappointing for the price
  • Descho vazhkuvata

Design and delivery set

Let's use the big box instead.

In addition to the headphones themselves and the external ceramic transmitter block, there is a whole set of cables for connecting to different platforms, a transmitter life block with a set of interchangeable tips for different standard sockets and accessories yy battery!

Marveling at such a great quantity, you instantly find yourself thinking that it would be a miracle to have a spare set of ear pads here. a case for transportation and other “buns”. Truly, the appetite comes at every hour!

What is the difference between P800 and X800? On the right is that these twin sisters are dissatisfied with this very set of supplies. The letter P ambiguously indicates the similarity of the set of our today's guest with the PlayStation 4 game console. And the importance is completely the same. The X800 comes with an additional headset control unit that connects to the Xbox gamepad. The P800 doesn't have this. For obvious reasons. Otherwise, the products are identical.

After completing the construction kit, we will move on to the design of the attachment. Here the information for the Siberia series is absolutely not typical - the new look of both the headset and the transmitter and even the streams. There are no light-emitting diode indicators, RGB lighting or other slightly inappropriate attributes of “gaming” devices. Everything is written laconically and with gusto.

If the design is not a complaint, then the materials are not a complaint. Devices with such a price tag, my reasonable guess, would be to ensure protection for metal heads. Ale Steelseries, obviously, is reaching other points of view - the headset as a whole and the surface of the frame is made of plastic.

The ear cushions and the inner side of the headband are designed according to the screen protector. It’s not necessarily “premium” material.

All this, prote, does not cause discomfort during operation. The headset sits hand-held. It was not possible for any backlash to appear. And the characteristic crunch of plastic is of the same class. Well, why would you want to forcefully squeeze the cups with your earphones?

The pressing force of the head and cups is sufficient for poor passive sound insulation. Also, don’t put too much pressure on the crown parts of the koristuvach. So the trival of the P800 is much simpler. And you don’t feel guilty about having your head stuck in the breams after many years of uninterrupted abuse.

The controls are located on the earcups of the headset with turbo ergonomics. There is a dial for adjusting the volume, as well as buttons for turning on the device and switching the microphone to Mute mode. To display the remaining microphone, the device has an additional LED indicator. A better and more practical solution.

The design of the P800 has deprived the reception of hostility. Go ahead and seal the little bits with what we consider to be the finest choice of materials.

Functionality

All key chips of the P800 are stored in the transmitter. These include a manual equalizer, software/virtual implementation of Dolby 7.1 technology and the ability to switch between a wide range of devices that are connected.

Regardless of functional versatility, the folding system does not suffer from the developed device.

Finally, the mystery goes to the inclusion of a charging device for the battery in the transmitter. By placing the additional battery in a new one, you can forget that the headset is still discharged. The perfect solution for long gaming sessions.

However, P800 can be used without a transmitter. For wired version. Connection with a cable is possible to any device with a 3.5 mm audio output. Unfortunately, in this situation the headset will only function as headphones.

Sound

The P800 copes with its direct tasks – epic sound effects and precise positioning of objects in games. Sometimes you forget that Dolby 7.1 is implemented here by software emulation, and not with the help of additional speakers.

Watching films is also less comfortable. Before remembering, the headset reveals its full potential only in films with a rich-channel audio track. If you don’t have such a recording at hand, then it’s best to turn on the Dolby 7.1 option. Otherwise, something that sounds easy can turn into mush.

Music. I'll be short - the Siberia P800, just like the X800, is not intended for music. It's a gaming and cinematic device. It can only be used for musical purposes in extreme cases. If there is no good alternative at hand.

Visnovki

SteelSeries Siberia P800 is a clear and miraculously coped with its direct obligations as a drone-free gaming headset. Well equipped, cross-platform and designed to work in dart mode. Why is he stealing his pennies? As if the materials were not of high quality, combined with a very expensive product, our opinion would be simple - that’s definitely true. Ale with the settlement of the deposit, the remaining decisions will be taken away from you. See you later!

The sound of today's games is given a lot of respect, orchestras and composers sing, the skin tone vibrates, the voices of the characters give a glimpse of show business. The sounds of gunfire, vibrations and reverberation of the engine of combat equipment are recorded in real scenes. Working on a sound warehouse requires no less effort than a graphic warehouse. To fully enjoy the atmosphere you need good speakers or headphones. And today we have the flagship droneless headset SteelSeries Siberia 800. This is a continuation of development SteelSeries H Wireless (look) We are pleased to present the first report on this headset.

Sales have already started in Russia, below is complete information about the available offers based on the Yandex.Market service.

SteelSeries Siberia 800 review

Equipment

The SteelSeries Siberia 800 is delivered in an important package with a case. The headphones are fixed in the middle on a hard pad. A report describing the technical characteristics has been provided.

The number of components is impressive. Everything has been thought out here down to the details of connection. Various types of cables, including optical cable, life unit, external sound card, a pair of batteries, instructions and warranty card. All accessories are carefully divided into separate bags with stickers, on which a description is given.

External look

SteelSeries Siberia 800 in terms of design and construction stands close to the 2016 models we reviewed earlier. The first thing that comes to mind is that instead of a wooden headband design, the classic version is replaced.

In terms of the game's directness, it looks awkward; there are no chimerical elements or fiery overindulgence here.

The design is based on vikorist plastic. The main area has a matte finish and gum inserts. There was a place and gloss on the side parts of the cups, which was even worse than the brand. If you have any significant inserts, and if the crust is part of our experience, you can cover them with melt with the required texture and original baby.

Regardless of plastic and metal, the extreme hardness is very high. You can't go wrong with the reliability of the design.

The soft inserts on the headband and ear pads are covered with leather, with a neat stitch running along the edges. In the middle there is material from shape memory.

The straight heads of the SteelSeries Siberia 800 are also made of plastic, with marks on the outer surface to fix the correct position. The adjustment range allows you to choose the optimal position for your anatomical head.

It is possible to rotate the cups 90 degrees, which also changes slightly.

At the bottom end of the cups there is an audio port (one of them is required to connect another headset). There is also a button to turn on the headphones and control the microphone with white lights.

The microphone is hanging, the entire bottom is located in the middle of the cup. On the outer side there is a ring with LED lights to control the microphone operating mode.

The ear pads of the SteelSeries Siberia 800 are massive, they smell completely on the ear, ensuring a high level of sound insulation. The stench goes away and can be serviced or replaced later.

The outer sides of the cups, as they say, have a lid. One of them contains a battery that can be removed from another mini USB connector for charging without a separate docking station.

Keruvanya block

An important part of the SteelSeries Siberia 800 is its new sound card, which provides the same functionality as a headset. This model is universal, compatible with consoles, TV set-top boxes, players and PCs. At the gate there are different roses to interrupt the sound signal.

To work, you need to obtain at least two roses. One of them is required to supply life to the control unit, the other is used for sound. Dolby technology varies depending on the connector: multi-channel optics Dolby Digital, USB - Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

On the front side of the block there is a volume control, which is required for navigating through the menu, using the turn button.

There is a monochrome display here. You can use it to navigate through menu items, and the battery charge level is displayed here.

There is a plug on the side to save the additional battery with charging function.

Control is more intuitive. It is not important to get started without following the instructions.

testing

The SteelSeries Siberia 800 sounds luxurious. Here are a few other details that were not available with inexpensive headsets. Dolby technology expands the sound stage, creating surround sound from the position of the sound from the speaker. The sounds of grenades, the engine of a combat vehicle, and the sound of fire from a large-caliber armor are especially gorgeous on these headphones. You can once again understand the idea of the distributors.

Such high vigor of sound affects the vigor of the content.

Licensed films, high-bitrate music, all shown for this headset. Musical compositions have their own distinctiveness, which emphasizes the low frequencies. Instrumental recordings sound slightly muffled, but around the instruments there is a lot of noise. Plus, you can always change the sound using additional presets and equalizer.

The microphone quality is flawless, and the noise reduction system does its job miraculously. There were detailed protests during the hour of the stream broadcast.

The battery lasts for 18-20 years of autonomous work. The result is outstanding. I won't appreciate how easy it is to replace batteries on a new one. Stand within 12 meters of the docking station and headphones. The connection is stable.

Pouches for SteelSeries Siberia 800

SteelSeries Siberia 800 is clearly not a primary headset. One of the finest dartless headsets on the flagship market. The pluses include: expanded equipment, a new sound card, ergonomics, clear assembly, strict design, universal connection (with the exception of wireless communication with a smartphone), availability of a spare battery and the ability to charge without connecting to headphones, surround sound, autonomy , balanced sound. Not enough gloss on the cups and docking station. In this case, people who are not willing to buy a headset at the price of a cheap video card or game console lose their confidence.

Never before has a gaming headset been released so quickly - especially Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Why does Hideo Kodimi have to do with this, you ask? Moreover, the Japanese game designer of the board is careful to sound his creations, which he asks for the work of famous composers, musicians and sound engineers. Let's see what the new SteelSeries model is like.

Contents of delivery

Instead of the box, you can judge for yourself: the headset itself, 2 batteries, a power adapter, an external sound card/transmission and a set of cables, including digital optical. Not without SteelSeries branded stickers.

External look

Siberia P800 stands out from other SteelSeries models, but no matter what it looks like. Since all the generations of the current Siberia are very similar, then one can feel the flight of imagination of the designers.

The basis of the design is matte plastic; there was no place for metal in the douz.

The gloss shines only on the central inserts of the bowls, which are removed. The inner part of the headband has soft inserts under the skin, the ear pads are made of exactly the same material, and are also stitched with orange thread.

The sound is good, but the creaking still appears when you slightly squeeze the headset in your hands. The indicator on the microphone is red, and the indicator on the power button is white.

Ergonomics

Having first pulled the headset onto my head, I felt that it was too tight to sit on and the pressure wouldn’t let me loosen for long. If the battles appeared in the dark, I will press the force with great force, I won’t hurt and my head won’t get tired. The ear cushions have a large diameter and cover the ear completely, playing truly manually.

The bowls rotate more than 90 degrees, which adds advantages to the handiness of the rotator. I was pleased with the ergonomic layout of the tension adjustment roller, the power button, the hanging microphone and the connectors for connecting cables.

The ear pads are easy to remove, so you can easily replace them with a new one in the future. The lids on the bowls, including the battery and mini USB port, can also be easily removed.

Sound card, functionality

One of the main elements of the SteelSeries Siberia P800 is an external adapter/sound card.

Initially, the headset is intended for Sony PlayStation 4, but the possibility of pairing it with a console is not small. The device is universal and can connect to any device via mini Jack 3.5 mm (input and output for chat), optical digital interface (input and output) or USB.

On the front side there is a monochrome display, a volume/mix control and a “back” button. In settings, you can change settings, including a simple equalizer, Dolby mode, special Chatmix and Livemix modes, which allow you to adjust the volume level of voices in the chat and games.

The volume can be changed both on the card and on the headset. There is a slot for charging the battery directly in the transmitter.

The headset has a mini Jack 3.5 mm connector for connecting additional headphones, so the sound goes to two pairs at a time. There is also a micro Jack 2.5 mm - for connecting to a PS4 controller and further chatting.

The on/off buttons for Dolby mode on the headset itself do not work, and even when watching a movie or playing games on the couch, you always want to get up and go to transfer and switch modes. It is known that when connected to an optical cable, the multi-channel audio system is Dolby Digital, and USB Dolby Pro Logic IIx.

sound

Well, on the right, the Siberia P800 has shown itself to be a good gaming solution. Afghanistan in Metal Gear Solid V has come to life, every detail of the skin has become perceptible, like the rustling of leaves or the sound of sand. Due to the stealth orientation of the above-mentioned game, one can sense the whole atmosphere and mood of any given moment.

With the rumble of thunder and the burying of Dolby databases, it is clearly visible that 10 patrolmen are running at you, and there is a grenade at once. When connected to the ASUS O!Play media player via an additional digital optical cable, the sound was also impressive, and to savor the sound, you could marvel at the films in the originals. Basically, licensed dubbing distorts all the details, which will create the entire rich-channel panorama.

Sound insulation is not ideal and almost every sound is heard, just like your bumps and bulges will continue to be. For music, the SteelSeries P800 is not an ideal solution, but it does have some poor effects and a bit of a dull sound, but adjusting the equalizer or setting the Music mode will work better. But for listening to music, the HyperX Cloud drone headset is still better. And since they have already begun to equalize, then it is time to equalize the new product from SteelSeries with‒ it does not have a virtual multi-channel sound, but a full-fledged one with 10 speakers, it is easier to cope with music and the wow effect is brighter than expressions. Also, the ASUS headset is wired, so you can place the models at different levels. You can hardly recognize the dartless ones as the Logitech G930, but this is already an outdated model and comparing them with the P800 makes no sense.

The recording power of the microphone is completely poor, due to the calm situation.

Autonomy, range of action

Having assembled the battery correctly, you put two batteries in the kit and add more power for the headset - the battery has a capacity of 1000 mAg, which is enough for 20 years of continuous operation.

When the first one is used, it is inserted into the transmitter for charging, and a spare one goes into the headset.

The radius of the action is noted at 12 meters, in real minds this is the case, everything lies under the same place.

In the pouch

The price of the headset in the USA is $300. The price is not low, especially considering that for $400 you can buy a Sony PS4, for which the SteelSeries Siberia P800 is primarily intended. Regardless of the price, this is a drone-free gaming headset with effective sounds that clearly reveal the potential of today's blockbusters. The ergonomics, equipment and versatility were also good.
