The smartphone has a very calm design, neat, but without frills or special charm - before us is a modest-looking simple workhorse, the main purpose of which is not to show off, but to show off richly and diligently. The back cover is covered with a thick solid metal plate, such solutions are often found in Lenovo mobile products. Camera

When dialing a number, you can also select a carrier card. In 3G modes, you can use a SIM card in any slot, but at the same time in this mode you can use only one of the cards (otherwise only in 2G). OS and software

Lenovo S660 runs on the Google Android software platform, not the latest version 4.2.2. The programmer has completely changed the appearance and configuration of the user interface, which clearly appears even when there is no add-ons menu - all icons for installed programs are immediately displayed directly on the desktop . Of course, the creation of folders is encouraged, and most installations of programs are already laid out by the vendors themselves. Otherwise, the interface practically does not differ from the proprietary Android interface. There are a lot of pre-installed programs, and also useful ones, such as a package of office programs and a file manager, here you can also find a number of games and a lot of Yandex programs. All these programs are free of charge, and they could easily be purchased from the Play Store on your own, as if the owner of the smartphone had such a problem.

Productivity

The Lenovo S660 hardware platform will be based on the MediaTek MT6582 single-chip system (SoC). This is not the same as the MTK platform: although it has 4 processor cores, it is not as productive as the Cortex-A7 core. The processor cores here operate at a frequency of 1.3 GHz, and the Mali-400MP video processor is also far from the most productive for graphics processing. More than 1 GB of RAM has been transferred to the device. The storage capacity of the smartphone is no better - only 8 GB nominally, but only about 5.5 GB is available for your needs. However, to expand the built-in memory, you can insert a microSD card into the smartphone, and the mode of connecting external devices to the USB port (USB Host, USB OTG) is unfortunately not supported by the device - it is not possible to capture information from a previously connected flash drive viide.

To eliminate statements about the productivity of the smartphone platform, a standard set of tests was carried out. Based on the results obtained during testing, the Lenovo S660 system demonstrated not very high productivity indicators compared to this MediaTek platform.

All the results that we collected when testing the smartphone using the latest versions of popular benchmarks were compiled into a table for ease of reference. The table contains a number of other devices from different segments, also tested on similar versions of benchmarks (be careful not to make a preliminary assessment of the dry numbers). Unfortunately, within the framework of one level it is not possible to reveal the results from different versions of benchmarks, so “behind the scenes” they will be deprived of a lot of current and current models - through those that have recently undergone their “small changes” on the latest versions of test programs.

Overall, based on the results of all tests, the Lenovo S660 can be classified as a device with average (a little less than average) productivity. In any case, at the moment, the hardware productivity of a smartphone may require the completion of most of the main tasks that can be installed with programs from the Google Play Store, although they are not capable of 3D games, and this device is of no use to them. The modest size and separate display and the large battery capacity make this a reliable business assistant, or a multimedia processor for development.

To test the display of images of video files on the screen of the device itself, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle that move one section per frame (chapter “Method of testing devices for creating and displaying a video signal. Taking pictures of the screen with a 1 second window helped to determine the nature of the display of frames of video files with different parameters: the separate content was varied (1280 by 720 (720p) and 1920 by 1080 (1080p) pixels) and frame rate (24, 25, 30, 5 s).
