HDR: an amazing technology, a lot of people don’t know about it. Everything you need to know about HDR in computer monitors What is HDR in a monitor?

Golovna / Additional functionality

Progress does not stand still, and year by year more and more technologies appear that will make life easier for the owner of various devices and increase his satisfaction with them. One of them is the very new HDR technology, which is rapidly gaining popularity.

HDR: what is it?

HDR (High Dynamic Range, translated from English as “high dynamic range”) is a capture technology that displays video in a high range of brightness. This allows us to bring the picture closer to what people can see in real life, which helps to preserve its authenticity. Essentially, the technology combines a number of images, which required extensive exposure, into one visible skin object.

For example, let’s say you need to take a photo of a fountain on a sunny day. The bright sky in the background can be impressive, because the fountain looks either dark or light. What is HDR for, because in this case it helps to take a photograph of both the fountain and the sky and preserve the brightness that is inherent in life. This is how the technology works in the cells, but it is no less stagnant in them. You can find it on TVs and other devices.

In the art of photography, technology is needed in order to highlight and see all the details. Then you have to keep the shades light and the lighted areas dark. The HDR photography function is present in many smartphones and professional cameras. It works in such a way that several variants of the same photo, together with the different levels of window dressing and different exposures, come together in one. Before the advent of automated HDR technology, photographers took photos using the same principle manually, taking a number of photos with varying degrees of clarity and color.

The HDR function is now available on many phones. When borrowing, you only need to activate them and decide to create the cameras yourself. Please note that this mode takes more than an hour to take pictures compared to the normal mode. While the technology is present on the smartphone itself, there are no programs that allow you to bring it to the device.

HDR is better suited for shooting in low light conditions. It’s not a good idea to vikorist to take over objects that are collapsing. Before taking it out, you need to trim the camera thoroughly and evenly so that it doesn’t collapse. However, when the technology is active, the camera simultaneously takes dark and light exposures of the same object or landscape; the object itself cannot be changed. It is important to note that photographs taken in HDR mode are not always the same. Sometimes the stench may look unnatural, so we would like to remind you that you should save the photo taken in the vicor mode first. Also, HDR shooting can reduce the brightness of the finished photo.

Technology today is supported by displays. While there are very few TVs with HDR these days, it is remarkably rare in smartphones. Those few models that have acquired highlighting offer better contrast and color rendition, and higher brightness. Relevant content appears brighter, while other content not shot in HDR appears in a more blurred appearance. Such screens produce images that are brighter and more intense. However, with the use of smartphones, we are often overheated, changing lighting and looking around, it is sometimes difficult to appreciate all the capabilities and advantages of the display for this technology.

The smartphone screen, due to the technology, has a mother-peak brightness of at least 540 nits, but this negatively affects the hours of the autonomous device - it discharges much faster, lower models with larger displays. It is therefore logical that with advanced technology it is important that the smartphone has a large battery capacity, as well as boosting power. A wider range of brightness, in its own right, guarantees high brightness in HDR. The technology gives a great advantage to the ability to display and display video, so it is possible that such screens will become standard for smartphones in the near future.

The challenge for HDR technology is the same in phones and TVs. This is necessary to make the images more harmonious, and more diverse and closer to reality. However, the principle of robotic technology in different devices is becoming increasingly different. While HDR in cameras is largely aimed at detailing the image, on TVs it is mainly aimed at enhancing colors.

In 2016, a large number of different companies began producing TVs that support the HDR format. Such TVs are oriented towards optimizing the brightness of the image. The colors are demonstrated more thoroughly, in line with other models, the transmission of colors and a wider range of contrast. The smells convey a large number of different shades, strong colors and subtones. This makes the picture on the screen more voluminous and easier to see, and it also begins to look more realistic. The technology itself on TVs includes a number of different formats, the most popular being HDR10.

Of course, it will never be enough for your TV to support HDR. To fully benefit from the advantages of this format, the content that is viewed is subject to its recognition. While HDR TVs want to display clear images with greater brightness and enhanced backlighting, ideally the video itself can also support HDR. There may not be a lot of such content available at a time, but the quantity will soon increase.

For practical purposes, a 4K TV supports HDR. They cannot be called budget options, but they are good for people who value the brightness of the image and the beautiful, rich picture. The cheapest models may not fully maximize their functions, and the smell often does not have sufficient peak vigor.

Let's bring the pouch

HDR technology has great potential for development in the future. It would not be an overestimation to say that this technology is promising, despite the need for high-quality screens. The bright colors and garnet images of photography and video make you happy. An hour will pass and accessories that support HDR will no longer be very rare on the market.

Today, 4K monitors have already become common, except for devices with instantaneous support such as 4K, and HDR is still rarely used, so the new BenQ EL2780U is a unique model in this sense.

The diagonal of the screen is 28", which is why it is far from the best Ultra HD for its money (about 22,000 rubles), but, arguably, one of the cheapest with the HDR function. Unfortunately, in Russia the new product is still rare, and Let's go take a look at BenQ EL2870U as a good alternative for gaming on Final Fantasy XV or Assassin's Creed Origins?

A little before this (well, not very little) explanation about the implementation of HDR on a PC. HDR (English: high dynamic range) is a technology that allows you to achieve a larger range of colors that are displayed on the screen, and increased contrast, which is not possible on standard displays. White colors become brighter, and black ones become deep and dark. This way the image looks more natural, which improves the fit of any content on any device, be it a TV or a computer monitor.

The catch is that while 4K HDR models are not available on the TV market, the situation with computer monitors is a mess. Only a handful of 4K HDR models would like to be announced, and most of them are difficult to find for sale.

Another problem is the difference between HDR versions. Most of the announced models support the HDR10 standard, and they have also complicated the task by providing their technologies for adaptive adjustment of the screen refresh rate - G-Sync HDR and FreeSync 2-video - proprietary implementations H D.R. Thus, developers of the announced HDR monitors with updates to G-Sync or FreeSync need to ensure the flexibility of two formats at once, which adds to the additional headache that could be unique.

Fortunately, the BenQ EL2780U only supports the original version of FreeSync (and not FreeSync 2), which means that we are not limited to the HDR10 format. What does this mean? The standard is actually the point of view of any current HDR display. We guarantee that the monitor contains a matrix with a 10-bit color scheme (in some screens the color value is 8-bit), which supports the Rec.2020 palette. The number of colors in this scheme is much greater than that of the standard sRGB.

The benefits of HDR support can only be appreciated if the monitor receives the output signal. In our range, only HDR-intensive games are related to the video card, which supports this format (this includes models of the Nvidia GTX 900 and 1000 series plus the AMD R9 300, RX 400, RX series 500 and RX Vega). In other versions, the BenQ EL2870U is used as a primary monitor.

At the moment, there is no display that can completely cover the Rec.2020 palette (about 75% of the entire visible spectrum), and it is unlikely that such a screen will be stretched for many years. In addition to supporting Rec.2020 in HDR10, it is important to look at it as a basis for the future, and not for a revolution in the world. What we can only know is how well the EL2870U copes with the transmission of colors using DCI-P3 circuits, which amounts to approximately 53% of the spectrum visible to us. To straighten things out: the sRGB palette covers about 35%.

However, the accuracy of color is only one of the problems, since the maximum brightness also contributes greatly to the vibrancy of the HDR effect. For example, TVs of the Ultra HD Premium class with a brightness of 1000 nits and more are simply overlooked when looking at those in typical standard monitors with a value of more than 300 nits. The rule of thumb is that the higher the brightness level, the better the HDR effect will be conveyed, although this is not true for all HDR displays.

And in this sense, the BenQ EL2870U is not at its best. It is clear that our testing programs do not support operation with HDR, so we recorded a brightness level of 280 nits compared to the standard mode. This is typical of the brightness of modern computer monitors, which is completely sufficient for everyday work.

We activated the HDR mode in Windows 10 and launched the crazy game Assassin Creed Origins with it - and it immediately became obvious to us that the brightness of the screen did not reach the heights seen on the device with HDR. Our best and most unprofessional decision led to the current situation: we stopped working with the virtualization program in the background, and suddenly sent a calibrator to the sleepy fields of the game, which illuminates the virtual oasis of Siva: theoretically, if correct It also has HDR functions, which makes the screen more beautiful .

Prote, when the HDR option is turned on, the result of the dimming becomes close to 250 nits, then. You do not deny the daily advantages of the potential level of brightness of HDR. Of course, with HDR everything looked better, but the advantage over the gameplay in the standard mode (without HDR) is not so noticeable.

To confirm that the problem is not in Windows 10 (since HDR support in Windows 10 was not implemented yet), we also connected to the BenQ EL2870U to X. Using the same method, we sent the calibrator to the other side, and - Guess , what? — the reverence of brightness we have experienced has risen again to approximately 250 nt.

Well, the brightness of the BenQ EL2870U screen doesn’t need to be high, but what about the brightness of the color transfer? To be honest, it doesn’t seem to have affected both the PC and the Xbox. We noted that the red and yellow colors of Bayek's costume looked much brighter and more vibrant in HDR mode, but overall we didn't notice any difference. The difference was obvious only in the dark plots of the image, for example, on the hair of Bayek and the feathers of the eagle Senu. The transmission of colors of black, gray and dark brown shades is very clear - but, again, we didn’t notice anything supernatural.

There is a lot of difference between the set of created colors, which is based on the technology used to create the monitor matrix itself: BenQ EL2870U on a TN screen (the transfer of screen colors to this type is generally cool ), and not more thoroughly on the IPS system. Specialized tests for working with Rec.2020 are currently running daily in our virtual environment, but, as was stated earlier, it is supported by DCI-P3 color schemes, which is used by the vicorist to test HDR TVs for lasu Ultra HD Premium.

At factory settings (which consist of a fixed standard profile and a profile with normal color temperature and including HDR), the EL2780U was able to cover 91.2% of the sRGB palette and 70.3% - DCI P3. This is not a bad result for a monitor in the category up to 25,000 rubles, and even with an HDR device, the displays in the short run can be called tricky, especially if you take into account that the contrast ratio becomes more than 900: 1, and at the maximum level Skravosti transfer of black color to the middle: 0.31 nt (the closer it is to 0, the better it is).

We figured that switching to the HDR or Cinema HDR profile would correct the situation, as well as the production modes to simulate the HDR effect in situations where the monitor does not have a proper HDR signal. Unfortunately, the results of our simulations in these cases dropped to the average of 83% for sRGB and 62% for DCI P3. In addition, the values of the boule are presented when a signal is supplied via DisplayPort. Reversing one of the two HDMI 2.0 inputs resulted in a reduction in overall performance of approximately 5%, so for the best picture quality you will need to use DisplayPort in all cases.

Of course, it would be unfair to compare the EL2870U and Ultra HD Premium TVs for their ability to produce DCI P3 colors, given the large price difference between them. This means that the monitor is not much superior to standard models without HDR. The main advantage for such excellence is the support for 4K resolution. I would like and need to say here that for comfortable reading of the text you will have to increase the scale adjustment in Windows to about 150%, and in this mode the amount of working space on the screen is not much greater than that of a similar monitor display size, but separate size 2560×1440 pixels

The device has additional functions. Among them is the technology of “intelligent” illumination, which is also intended to improve the comfort of regular office work filters, which replaces the promotion of the blue color. In addition, a filter is implemented without a barrier, which reduces the potential for interference on the eyes, and there is a previously known useful option for AMD video cards - the ability to use standard FreeSync. The BenQ EL2870U is not the best choice if you are looking for an HDR monitor that could change your opinion about gaming. This is a good budget 4K monitor, but other successful traders will be deprived of the chance of appearing on the market with short-term offers.

Modern tabletop technologies have greatly increased in our lives, so it can sometimes be difficult to adapt to all their diversity. For example, when choosing a TV, you will have to pay attention to certain parameters, some of which may be confusing to an unprepared buyer. In this article we will talk about HDR technology, which has become extremely relevant in recent years.

In practice, until the beginning of 2016, the development of rock was the prerogative of certain TV models, and there was little relevant content. Fortunately, over time, the situation began to change: more and more manufacturers are equipping their TVs with HDR support. Developers of game consoles have also introduced technology enhancements in new models. Sony went even further and introduced HDR support in the original PlayStation 4 by updating the software.

The most important thing is that the appearance and continuation of the appearance of similar content that can be played on devices with HDR support.

So why is all this fuss about HDR an investment of the buyers' pennies in a wise house?

Tomsguide.com

How does it look?

Let’s try and understand the essence of the technology.

Every TV is characterized by contrast and color accuracy. Contrast is added to the extent that bright and dark colors can show bias while preserving their visual variety. Color accuracy, in its own right, means how close to real colors are displayed on the screen.

What’s important is that more potential buyers are encouraged to choose a TV with a higher distribution range and a TV with a smaller distribution range, or a higher distribution oh contrast, choose another one. The very density and diversity of colors is a priority when choosing. Thus, the brightness of the picture is still lost by the beauty of a separate 4K video. Buyers are being robbed.

What's the point?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, or expansion of the dynamic range, allows you to create descriptions that are even more obvious: make light colors lighter, and dark colors darker. HDR increases the color range and maximizes contrast, giving images greater depth and intensity. Standard colors - red, blue and green - select additional shades and their combinations, which are always indicated on the image frame.

HDR uses WCG (Wide Color Gamut) technology. This further expands the available range of colors. Viewers who have never encountered these technologies before will be pleasantly surprised by the increasing number of shades of what would seem to be familiar colors.

wired.com

It is important to understand that the HDR technology that is being used in today's TVs and the devices that are connected to them is seriously disrupted by the fact that it is already present in the cameras of our smartphones every day.

Thus, television HDR technology increases the contrast and palette of available colors to make the images on the screen more realistic, as seen in natural films. HDR technology in cameras, in its own way, is used to combine several photographs into one to capture the smallest image, which brings out the most distant elements of all frames. Thus, the difference between the two HDR follows the principle.

How will it be implemented?

HDR technology consists of two invisible parts: the display and the content.

In reality, TV is the simplest part of the two. You will then need to highlight the song areas of the screen brighter, rather than using something similar to the original, which does not support HDR.

Everything is getting more complex with the content, which is due to the support of HDR to display a wider dynamic range on the screen. Most films, and many TV series, filmed over the past decade may support HDR. It can also be added without any special additions to the original picture. On the right, the main way to transfer HDR content to the TV is data transmission.

Video created using High Dynamic Range is compressed and then transmitted to your TV, computer or other device. As a result, the user can obtain the best picture possible to create his display using the latest technology and image enhancement systems.

whathifi.com

Thus, if the content from your favorite devices is displayed using the same HDR, your TV will receive additional metadata that will tell you how to display a particular scene. Obviously, there is a respect here for the support of technology as a device of creation.

In addition, the songs are suitable for mastery. Not just your TV, but your player or set-top box must have an HDMI connector version no lower than 2.0. Most of the equipment released from 2015 to the present day supports the HDMI 2.0 standard, which can be software upgraded to HDMI 2.0a. The remaining version of the standard requires the transfer of the metadata itself, the knowledge of the world.

In this case, video producers have already decided to give TV sets that support 4K resolution and HDR technology a UHD Premium certificate. In fact, you will be very interested in purchasing. Please also note that the 4K Blu-ray format also has HDR support for processing.

Let's bring the pouch

Surprisingly, HDR technology on TVs is not yet necessary in everyday life, as it degrades video processors, but it itself is the main disruptive force in the industry. The race for separate production in 4K has moved to another level, sacrificing the cost of an expanded dynamic range.

And if you want the best results that will be achieved by combining two advanced standards, at this stage it is better to choose a TV with HDR support, if you are not ready to overpay for the availability of something lower than 4K. The vibrancy of the picture while choosing relevant content will welcome you no matter what. The eyes will not be fooled: the bright and intense colors, as well as their diversity, will be intense, without the obviousness of the matrix with an ultra-high degree of separation.

Thus, when buying a new TV at the end of 2016, it is necessary to get a boost from the HDR support, and some 4K production is still not accepted, but still additional ones, which must greatly influence Podsumkova is glad to buy, rather than bring the same emotions.

A list of the best 4K gaming monitors for the Xbox One S console with HDR10 support for those who don’t want to play the console on a TV.

Basic parameters of 4K-HDR monitors.

  • HDR 10- This format is only supported by Microsoft Xbox consoles. The presence of Dolby Vision does not even color the picture at all. Also, the HDR secret in the device description means support for the required format.
  • Diagonal 24″ or better 27″-32″ . You can play console games on a smaller size, but there is not enough enjoyment.
  • IPS matrix Significantly better in terms of juiciness and richness of the picture, TN is divided into a small amount of time. Currently, IPS displays are fast.
  • Update frequency 60 Hz there will be more. The rule here is: what is more is more beautiful, and what is more expensive!
  • Voice hour up to 12 ms, Up to 30 ms pleasant imput lag for TB. The less important the trimming is, the better it is.
  • HDMI input 2.0 or 2.0a, otherwise 4K will be 30Hz, not 60Hz.
  • 10bit monitors (1.07 billion colors) and more, because only in this case you take away all the beauty of HDR. 8bit displays 16.7 million colors. 8bit+FRC - these are software methods for increasing the bitness (pixels blink and through this the number of shades of colors increases).
  • We recommend that you pay attention to your monitors Freesync 2 via HDMI port, as this function is supported by Xbox One X.

Monitor models with HDR 10 for Xbox One S and X.

In mid-2017, there are no longer many monitors that can effectively support the HDR10 profile required for the new Microsoft Xbox One consoles with S and X indexes:

  • LG 32UD99-W(31.5″ / IPS / 4K / 60Hz / HDR10 / FreeSync) - $999
  • Dell UltraSharp UP2718Q (27″ / IPS / 4K / 60Hz / HDR10) - $1.699
  • Acer Predator XB272-HDR (27″ / IPS / 4K / 144Hz / HDR 10 / G-Sync) - $1,999 (estimated)
  • Asus ROG SWIFT PG27UQ (27″ / IPS / 4K / 144Hz / HDR 10 / G-Sync) - $1.999 (estimated)
  • ASUS ProArt PA32U (32″ / IPS / 4K / 60Hz / HDR 10) - $1,999 (estimated)

For full-fledged HDR-10, a high brightness of 1000 threads is required.

Obviously, no one wants to pay more than a thousand dollars for a monitor, especially for a game console. And if you play a game together with a robot (photo and video montage), you can become generous. But not everyone needs a great 4K-UHD TV, which also starts at around $1,500.

Additional technologies from NVidia and AMD.

  • G-SYNC- NVIDIA development for dynamic synchronization between the display and video card (reduces tearing and greater smoothness of frames). Only works with NVIDIA video cards significantly promotes varity monitors through licensed healthcare facilities, on average for 20,000₽.
  • FreeSync- similar development to AMD, for a quick and clear update of the picture. Supports VESA and Display Port 1.2a. There is widespread concern among all monitor manufacturers. through your catlessness! Works with AMD GPU cards (discrete and embedded in the CPU).

What is better than a 4K monitor or a 4K TV?

To inform you about the power supply, you need to know what the device is for.

With a variety of technical parameters (diagonal, separation, contrast, brightness, smoothness, refresh rate, etc.) between these displays there is one dimension - recognition.

  • TVs are suitable for watching movies, TV channels, streaming services and games on consoles. Because stinks are created on purpose to display a “beautiful” picture on the great square.
  • The monitor needs to show most realistic images, without “polykraroks” and “floats”. Therefore, there is a problem with connections with computers and other operating systems. Game monitors are only relevant for PC gamers, as consoles don’t see more than 60FPS at 1080p, let alone 4K.

Ideally, the best option for mothers is a good monitor for work, and a great TV for entertainment. If you have a budget or space for living space, you will have to set priorities.

Everything about HDR in smartphones: what it is, where it is, and where it is sharpening

Before the advent of HDR (High Dynamic Range), videographers were chasing larger screen sizes and higher pixel density, and this trend is still being watched. Even HDR is a technology that is worthwhile: however, a highly separate building does not affect the brightness of the picture as much as HDR.

The expanded dynamic range allows you to create images that are more vibrant, realistic and detailed, especially in the lightest and darkest parts that “clog” the standard SDR screen. These plots cease to be just plains, from which details can be seen. The colors show more color, the image loses its “acidity” and becomes more voluminous, more suitable for flavoring.

Report on the principles of HDR on TVs. Lyudska, call the building of the Sprimti Shirshi Gradi Koloeru Yaskravosti, NIZH SDR Ekran can pass, and the new technology of thekhraz is the pre -Magaze Picture without falling the anchsty, with the bosom of the Yaskravistya, the details of it.

So, if you take an image of a person standing on a light-colored surface, the original display will show a noticeably brighter and brighter surface, and the 4K + HDR TV axis will allow you to see the details on the surface. Or let’s take a picture from the sunset: with orange haze all over the sky, shaded by the background, and brighten it up with the practically illuminated sun as it goes beyond the horizon. On the SDR screen, the background image will be less noticeable and will be able to appear as one whole, while with the help of additional HDR the picture will become more detailed: you can see the contours of the sun, in the shadow of the background image there will be visible buildings or trees, and skin the dark in the sky will be well painted.

Left-handed – images on SDR screen, right-handed – on HDR

Before speaking, I have a thought that to understand all the advantages of HDR, you need to watch other related content. In reality, the original images from the video appear brighter on the display with an extended dynamic range, while on the SDR screen the picture is brighter and more contrasty. But, of course, all the advantages of this technology are noticeable only for the creation of relevant content.

We can’t help but say something about HDR formats – they are supported not only by TV, but also by mobile devices. There are two popular standards on the market: HDR10 and Dolby Vision. HDR 10 is the most advanced open format in which users can change the brightness and other image parameters. We are looking forward to playing on 4K Ultra-HD Blu-Ray discs (including game consoles). The standard characterizes a color value of 10 bits per RGB channel and a brightness level of 1000 cd/m2.

The Dolby Vision format created by the Dolby company is called the current standard. Self-adjustment of the system is already turned off - it is important to respect that the video is so perfectly calibrated. TB supporting this format is equipped with a special hardware chip. A color value of 10 bits for Dolby Vision is the minimum, but the acceptable value is 12 bits. Dolby Vision content operates at a peak brightness of 10,000 cd/m2, but is capable of running at approximately 4,000 cd/m2.

As HDR content suffers, it is rapidly developing. TV series and important content in the Dolby Vision format are available from Sony Pictures, Universal, Warner Bros. These other companies can be found on Amazon, Netflix, Ivi.ru, Google Play, iTunes and YouTube. Many TV series are already known for using HDR.

Today's consoles (, ) and computer systems support the HDR10 format, especially for high-budget games.

HDR on mobile devices

In mobile devices, HDR technology is also aimed at making visual content more detailed and brighter, but also making it more clear when watching a video on a 65-inch TV screen. However, on small displays there is a good reduction in color reproduction, high detail in dark and poorly lit scenes, and a lack of light.

Today's smartphones (although there are still very few of them) support HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats, and a new standard for mobile devices, Mobile HDR Premium, has emerged - which was developed by the Ultra HD Alliance. The standard bears in mind that the device is capable of a separate screen of 60 pixels per degree, supports 10-bit video, a dynamic range of 0.005 to 540 cd/m2 and up to 90% DCI/P3 color. Content that follows this standard is indicated by a confirmation icon.

It is important to be skeptical about HDR on small screens: it is important that you can never appreciate all the advantages of a smartphone display with a wide dynamic range, especially when it comes to the OLED matrix. Even with a smartphone, we don’t sit in the same place, as we have to watch TV every hour, and when we change the air, the lighting changes as we look around. Also, the brightness of the display can be automatically changed depending on the lighting conditions. However, videographers sing: with the particularity of relying on software and hardware filling, the best visual experience is guaranteed. Well, in normal minds we consider the amazing video content on a smartphone under the direct influence, that is not enough, due to the change in appearance, it can be called non-network.

Another complaint is that high peak brightness will require increased battery drain. It’s true that an average device needs to be charged every day, and battery life is reduced, as you are surprised by HDR content in non-stop mode. In addition, top models should be equipped with fast charging technology.

Best of all, HDR in smartphones will become the standard for flagships in the near future. In any case, the prospects for the technology are good: in addition to the fact that few people need 3D, HDR gives real advantages in terms of picture clarity. The same trend towards an increase in streaming services that support HDR has clearly begun.

Smartphones with HDR

Some manufacturers, as we said, have already introduced HDR technology into the screens of their top models – especially LG, Samsung and Apple. Let's talk briefly about smartphones, the displays of which already support an expanded dynamic range.

Samsung was planning to launch HDR in the Galaxy Note 7, and as a result became the first smartphone with a fully expanded dynamic range, becoming the LG G6 (). We support two standards - HDR10 and Dolby Vision, like TVs of this brand. An impressive IPS screen with a separate Quad HD+ component, which I can take a closer look at and, therefore, the hypothetical shortcomings of HDR are eliminated.

The “icing on the cake” was the HDR10 support of the new smartphone from the Korean company LG V30, as well as its modification V30+. The device retains the 18:9 aspect ratio, taken from its predecessor - for example, 21:9 films have smaller frames on the new one, and lower ones on the displays from the 16:9 aspect ratio. Before speech, on the POLED matrix, which is discussed here, the frames are unknown. V30 display with separate partition 2880×1440 pixels. The building displays 148% of the sRGB space and 109% of the DCI-P32 space. The Russian apparatus has not yet appeared and will remain until the end of fate.

The new iPhone X has an OLED display with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support, as well as True Tone technology, so it not only ensures the visual accuracy of HDR, but also changes the color temperature according to the lighting. The contrast here is stated to be even higher, 1,000,000:1, brightness - up to 625 cd/m². Prior to the speech, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have already seen full support for HDR, and Apple said that these smartphones will be able to display HDR content with improved dynamic range, contrast, and wider colors. storage, but only the iPhone X display can show the real possibilities of the price technology.

The screens of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were the first to be certified for the highly important Mobile HDR Premium standard, and also support HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Both smartphones have AMOLED displays with highly detailed images and separate 2960x1440 pixels.

Although the peak brightness of the Galaxy S8 is close to 1020 cd/m2, the new smartphone Galaxy Note 8 () whose display is already 1200 cd/m2. Its 6.3-inch AMOLED display has a color scheme that is as much as 1.5 times more sRGB space, and on which screen HDR movies will look better than on the S8 and S8+ displays, although on mobile devices nothing is so significant.
